The temple was announced in conjunction with 17 others.

On January 8, 2024, the official exterior rendering of the Ribeirão Preto Brazil Temple was released.^[3]”Renderings Released for Three Temples,” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints News Release, 8 Jan. 2024.

Ground was broken for the Ribeirão Preto Brazil Temple on June 22, 2024, with Elder Joni L. Koch — General Authority Seventy and president of the Brazil Area — presiding. He spoke of serving as a full-time missionary in Ribeirão Preto 44 years earlier and being welcomed by many local Latter-day Saints. He also paid tribute to the early and longtime Saints in the Ribeirão Preto area in the southeast region of Brazil.

A large lot located at the intersection of Avenida Antônio Marçal and R. José Brandani has been chosen as the location of the future temple.

Cladding

Architectural renderings of the house of the Lord released by the Church on 8 January 2024, show an off-white stone exterior.

Windows

Vertical art glass windows surround the exterior.

A five-level square tower stands above the center of the building. Atop the tower, a beveled square steeple brings the spire to a point topped by a finial. The main tower level is surrounded by four vertical stained-glass windows.

A simple, needle like finial, square in cross-section, points to the sky atop the spire.

Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 32,000 square feet.
