The southeastern city of Busan is Korea’s busiest port. History
Latter-day Saint service members brought the Church’s teachings to Korea in the 1940s. In 1973 the Seoul Korea Stake, the first stake in mainland Asia, was organized.
Announced
On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Busan Korea Temple at the October 2022 General Conference.[2]”The Church of Jesus Christ Will Build 18 New Houses of the Lord,” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints News Release, 2 Oct. 2022, https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/october-2022-general-conference-new-temples. The temple was announced concurrently with 17 others.
It will be the second temple in South Korea. The first was completed in Seoul in 1985.
