Washington D.C. Temple

Hi Brian,

I can respect that, of course, as it’s your hard work and you can do what you want with it. I, too, came here looking for a detailed model of this temple to print with an SLA (resin) printer as a gift for a couple who let us use their home when we lost power and heat during the freezing polar vortex in Houston this week. They were married there, and I thought it would be a nice gesture of gratitude.

I recently bought this highly detailed model of the SLC temple, and I was hoping you might sell this model as an STL in a similar fashion and price:

I’m not sure what bad experiences you had in the past, but I wonder if there’s a way to address those concerns and still offer it for sale. I’m the bishop of my ward and am not one to break my word if that’s a concern.

I’m curious what extra work would be needed to make it 3D printable. It appears to be just about what I’d expect already, looking at the photos you’ve posted. I suppose it would be useful to have the main building separated from the auxiliary building to conserve print volume, and similarly creating an STL with just the building vs. one with the base/sidewalk so there’s a choice of how much gets printed underneath the building. I don’t know as much as I’d like to about 3D modeling, but I wonder if there’s a low-effort version of what you’re imagining.

Anyway, just checking in again to see if you would be willing to offer it in a similar way as the SLC temple I linked above, just in case circumstances might have changed. Thanks!
