Australia was home to nearly 160,000 Latter-day Saints in around 300 congregations at the time of announcement.
History
The Church was introduced in Australia in 1840 when a British convert immigrated to the country. The first branch was organized in 1844, and a mission was established in 1851. Stakes in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne, each organized in 1960, were among the first stakes established outside of North America.[1]”15 New Temples Announced at the 194th Semiannual General Conference,” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints News Release, 6 Apr. 2025.
