Description

Londrina is a city located in the state of Paraná in South Brazil. The state is home to Iguaçu Falls with hundreds of cascades straddling the border with Argentina and Paraguay. Paraná is also one of three states in the South Region of Brazil. There are 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,100 congregations.

History

Prior to the temple announcement, members in the area had to travel to the Campinas Brazil Temple, a distance of approximately 130 miles away to the southeast.

On October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Location Announced

On November 28, 2022, the location of the Londrina Brazil Temple was announced. Groundbreaking Announced

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the groundbreaking date for the Londrina Brazil Temple on 10 June 2024. A groundbreaking service will be held on Saturday, 17 August 2024. Groundbreaking

On Saturday, August 17, Elder Ciro Schmeil, First Counselor in the Brazil Area Presidency, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Londrina Brazil Temple. During his site dedicatory prayer, Elder Schmeil said: “May all members and nonmembers who reside in this temple district feel Your love and mercy and thus have the desire to draw closer to You through the sacred covenants made in the temples.”
