Description

Tuguegarao City is the capital of Cagayan province, located in the northern region of the island of Luzon nearly 300 miles north of Manila. The Philippines is densely populated with nearly 114 million residents.

History

Announced

On 2 April 2023, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Tuguegarao City Philippines Temple at the April 2023 General Conference.[1]”The Church of Jesus Christ Will Build 15 New Houses of the Lord,” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints News Release, 2 Apr. 2023. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/april-2023-general-conference-new-temples. The Temple was announced in conjunction with 14 other temples.

It was the 11th temple announced for the Philippines. Iloilo Philippines temple was announced at the same time.

The other 10 Filipino cities where temples are announced, under construction, or dedicated include Alabang, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, Davao, Manila, Naga, Santiago, Tacloban City, and Urdaneta. A 12th temple was announced for Iloilo City on the same day.
