Description
There were at the time of announcement more than 440,000 Latter-day Saints in the state, organized in approximately 925 congregations.
History
Beginning in the 1850s, Latter-day Saints occasionally traveled from the Utah Territory to preach the restored gospel and to explore the possibility of permanent settlements in Arizona.
Announcement
On April 7, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Yuma Arizona Temple at the 194th Annual General Conference. The temple was announced in conjunction with 14 other temples.

It will be the seventh temple in southwestern state of Arizona. Other temples in the state at the time included the Gilbert Arizona Temple, the Mesa Arizona Temple, the Phoenix Arizona Temple, the Snowflake Arizona Temple, The Gila Valley Arizona Temple, and the Tucson Arizona Temple.
