Description

Mbuji-Mayi is the second largest city in the country and the capital of Kasai-Oriental Province, located in the south-central area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The country, dedicated for the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1987, was home to more than 100,000 Latter-day Saints in around 270 congregations. The first Congolese people to join the Church of Jesus Christ did so in Europe in the 1960s. Many of them met in small groups upon returning home.[1]”The Church of Jesus Christ Will Build 20 New Temples,” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints News Release, 1 Oct. 2023. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/october-2023-general-conference-temples.
