Description
San Luis Potosí is the capital and the most populous city of the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí in central Mexico. It is one of the area’s main industrial centers. More than one million people reside in the area, making it one of the largest metropolitan centers in Mexico.
History
Prior to the Temple announcement, members in the area had a drive of five to six hours to the Mexico City Mexico Temple.

On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Austin Texas Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. Groundbreaking Announced
On 5 February 2024 the Church announced that the groundbreaking service for the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple would be held on Saturday, 7 October 2023. Elder Gary B. Groundbreaking
Elder Sean Douglas — a General Authority Seventy and second counselor in the Church’s Mexico Area presidency — presided over the San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple’s groundbreaking ceremony on March 9, 2024.
