Announced
On October 3, 2021, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Culiacán Mexico Temple at the October 2021 General Conference.
The Temple was announced concurrently with 12 other temples:
- Kaohsiung Taiwan
- Tacloban City Philippines
- Monrovia Liberia
- Kananga Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Antananarivo Madagascar
- Vitória Brazil
- La Paz Bolivia
- Santiago West Chile
- Fort Worth Texas
- Cody Wyoming
- Rexburg North Idaho
- Heber Valley, Utah
The Culiacán Mexico Temple is currently in the planning stages. No groundbreaking date has been announced.

This will be the 17th temple in the country.
Culiacán, officially Culiacán Rosales, is a city in northwestern Mexico and has a population of around 850,000 people. Mexico is home to 1.5 million Latter-day Saints and around 1,850 congregations, more than any other country outside the United States.
Missionary work opened in Mexico in 1875.
