Description

Brazzaville is the capital and largest city in the Republic of the Congo. The Republic of the Congo has over 8,000 members in 29 congregations.

History

The Church has been present in the country since 1990.

Announcement

On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Barcelona Spain Temple at the April 2022 General Conference. The new temple follows the pattern of recent temple announcements in Europe that have favored locations with relatively few stakes within the prospective temple district.

The temple was announced in conjunction with 16 other temples.

This will be the nation’s first temple. The temple there will make access to the house of the Lord much easier for members of this central African nation. The Church is growing rapidly in the entire region. There are three temples in the neighboring country of the Democratic Republic of Congo.[1]”President Nelson Announces 17 New Temples,” The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints News Release, 3 Apr. 2022.
