Description
At the time of the announcement, Mexico was home to over 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in more than 1,875 congregations.
History
The preaching of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ began in Mexico during the 1870s. In 1961, a stake was organized in Mexico City and a temple was dedicated in 1983.
Announcement
On April 7, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Chihuahua Mexico Temple at the 194th Annual General Conference. The temple was announced in conjunction with 14 other temples.

On 9 June 2025 The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the site and rendering for the Chihuahua Mexico Temple. A 5.87-acre site located at the corner of Avenida de la Cantera and Avenida Real Escondido, Reserva Territorial la Hacienda, Chihuahua, Chihuahua, 31216 has been chosen for the location of the temple.
