Announcement
On April 6, 2025, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Rapid City South Dakota Temple at the 195th Annual General Conference. It will be the second house of the Lord in the state. The temple was announced in conjunction with 14 other temples.

It was announced on 23 February 2026 that the Rapid City South Dakota Temple will be constructed on a 4.86-acre site located at the northeast corner of Mount Rushmore Road and Moon Meadows Drive in Rapid City, South Dakota.
