Retalhuleu is located near the Pacific coast in southwestern Guatemala.
History
The first Latter-day Saint missionaries arrived in Guatemala in 1947. Dedicatory Order
Retalhuleu will be home to the country’s sixth temple. The Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, dedicated in December 1984, was the first temple built in Central America and the fourth built in Latin America. The Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temple was dedicated in December 2011. At the time of the announcement, the Cobán Guatemala Temple and Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple were under construction while the Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple was in the planning stages.
