Description

Victoria is the capital of British Columbia and located on the southeastern edge of Vancouver Island

There were at the time of announcement, the country was home to more than 200,000 Latter-day Saints in nearly 500 congregations.

History

Missionary service in Canada began in the early 1830s with the organization of the Church in upstate New York and in close proximity to the Canadian border.

Announcement

On April 7, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Victoria British Columbia Temple at the 194th Annual General Conference. The temple was announced in conjunction with 14 other temples.

Dedicated Order

The temple will be the eleventh in Canada. At the time of the announcement, dedicated temples in the country included the Calgary Alberta Temple, Cardston Alberta Temple, Edmonton Alberta Temple, Halifax Nova Scotia Temple, Montreal Quebec Temple, Regina Saskatchewan Temple, Toronto Ontario Temple, Vancouver British Columbia Temple, and Winnipeg Manitoba Temple. The Lethbridge Alberta Temple had been announced at the April 2023 general conference.
