Description

There are nearly 13,000 Church members in more then 40 congregations on the island nation of Madagascar. The temple in Antananarivo will be the country’s first temple. Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world, and the capital of Antananarivo is home to more than 1.4 million people.

History

The Church has been established in Madagascar since 1993.

Announcement

On 3 October 2021, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Antanarivo Madagascar Temple. Location Announced

On December 11, 2023, the location of the Antananarivo Madagascar Temple was announced as a 9.8-acre site next to a U.S. Embassy on Lalana Général Andrimahazo where the meetinghouse for the Ambohijanahary and Ambohimanarina Wards is located. The property is situated in Fokontany Andranoro, Commune Ambohibao, Antehiroka in Antananarivo.
