At the time of the announcement, there were approximately 75,000 Latter-day Saints organized in 145 congregations in the state.

History

Announcement

On April 7, 2024, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct the Honolulu Hawaii Temple at the 194th Annual General Conference. The temple was announced in conjunction with 14 other temples.

Dedication

Dedication Order

It will become Hawaii’s fourth temple, joining the Laie Hawaii Temple, Kahului Hawaii Temple, and Kona Hawaii Temple.

Location

Honolulu is located on the island Oahu. It is the capital of Hawaii and most populous city in the state. Oahu is also home to Church-owned Brigham Young University–Hawaii,d the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the Laie Hawaii Temple.
