1919-1956 (Progression)
Description
The last of the temples to use 4 stage progression again featured varied new layouts.
Mesa Arizona wrapped all the rooms around the central grand staircase, including the Celestial Room.
Idaho Falls wrapped all the endowment rooms around three sides of the Celestial Room.
Los Angeles kept the 4 stage progression, but put all those rooms on one single floor, in a method that was similar to the 1938 renovation of the St. George Utah temple. They were not only the last temples to use the 4 stage progression, but would be the last temples until the late 1990s to use any progressive rooms at all. This particular design may have played heavy on the design of the International style temples. With the removal of elevation changes between rooms, it may have been a natural step to decide that one room might also be acceptable.
